The Downtown Statesboro Development Authority will host the 14th annual Party Impressions Scare on the Square event on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 9am-1pm on East Main Street. Scare on the Square is a FREE event for the entire community to enjoy. There will be a Candyland game, a costume contest, a hayride, trunk-or-treat and vendors.
The fun begins at the Party Impressions Scare on the Square Candyland game in the Georgia Southern BIG alley at 58 East Main Street. Children can play the game and get candy while engaging in fun activities. Additionally, Word of Mouth Therapy will be hosting a sensory station for exceptional children and their families that will include adapted activities and regulation zones.
The costume contest is at City Hall. The Altrusa club of Statesboro will be registering the participants. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. for the 0-3 age category and the contest begins at 9:30 a.m. Contestants must register 30 minutes prior to the age group they are competing in. With six categories that are inclusive of all ages, there is no reason not to participate (only one category per contestant please). The 0-3 age category will start at 9:30 a.m., 4-8 at 10:00 a.m., 9-12 at 10:40 a.m., 13-17 at 11:15 p.m., 18+ at 11:40 p.m., family at 12:00 p.m.
There are great prizes thanks to: Party Impressions, Galactic Comics, Starbucks, Corks Kettle Corn, CORE Credit Union, Party Harbor, Bulloch County Literacy Council, Jonny Boy Cookies, Three Tree Coffee, Jaxe + Grace Boutique, Pladd Dot Music, El Sombrero, Honey Catering, Bruster’s Ice Cream, Chick-Fil-A, Cindy Lou’s Dos, and Wavee Shavee Ice.
There will be a variety of Trunk-or-Treat stations along East Main St. hosted by some of Statesboro local businesses. Everyone in the community is invited to play a game at each one for a chance to win candy. The Literacy Council is excited to be on board as a partner for the Scare on the Square event by providing the Book Bus.
For a fun free ride people can go to Synovus Bank parking lot. Once there, they can join a family friendly hayride provided by Mockingbird’s Turf.
There will be fun activities and vendors on the Bulloch County Courthouse. For tasty treats and food make sure to shop at one of our food stations and food trucks on site.
