If you’re anything like us, it’s hard to part with your furry friend. Luckily, a visit to Statesboro doesn’t mean you have to leave your pets at home. Whether you’re here for a weekend or a week, your pooch can stay as long as they want! Here is a guide to all things dog-friendly in Statesboro for you and your four-legged friend.
Unleash the Outdoors!
The great outdoors of Statesboro are a vital part of our city, and conveniently a perfect place to explore with your pet. Celebrate the warm weather and take advantage of the outdoor scenery of Statesboro with your pet by your side. One of our favorite pet-friendly trails is Blind Willie McTell Trail. Beginning at Fair Road’s Memorial Park, the trail stretches about 1.2 miles, ending at Triangle Park in downtown Statesboro. The trail is incredibly unique to the charm of Statesboro, showcasing the creative artwork of Georgia Southern students along the way. If you and your furry friend are looking for a longer stretch of trail, check out the S&S Greenway. The greenway spans 2.75 miles with trailheads at Gentilly and Pretoria Rushing Road. This woodland trail will walk you and your pet through some Statesboro history, mimicking the path of the former Savannah & Statesboro Railway. Remember to keep your pets on a leash throughout your walk and clean up after your pets to help us keep our trails beautiful and safe.
Along the Blind Willie McTell trail is the entrance to Statesboro’s Downtown Dog Park. Bring your pooch to the dog park to run around while you relax and catch up with friends, everybody wins! There is plenty to keep your pet busy throughout the 1.8 acres of fenced green space filled with toys, tunnels and more. If you’re worried about your little guy, we’re looking out for them too. Use the separated area for smaller dogs to calm both your nerves!
After a fun day at the dog park, you might find your pup in need of a good cleaning. Conveniently located near the Downtown Dog Park is Dirty Paws Pet Wash LLC, a self-serve dog washing station. Perfect for visitors staying in Statesboro for an extended time, this station offers an easy and affordable way to keep your furry friend clean and happy. No need to worry about tracking dirt back to your accommodations – just stop by the washing station and give your dog a quick rinse.
